Typical treatment

Is a diabetic diet and blood-glucose monitoring. For me, it's six small meals a day, including 1-3 carb exchanges per meal and at least one protein per meal. I have to test my sugar first thing in the morning (fasting) and then an hour after breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Insulin is a last resort for when diet management isn't keeping the numbers low enough. It's also for those who were insulin-dependent before getting pregnant.

I watch my carb/fruit intake

Couple tips my educator gave me
15-20 carbs for breakfast
15 morning snack
45 lunch
30 afternoon snack
45 dinner
30 evening snack
no skipping meals
no fruit before noon
whole grains are your friend
walking after you eat will help you lower your sugar
one or two high numbers will not hurt the baby, its consistent days of high sugar that will.
Did they set you up with an diabetic specialist?

Definitely....

If you don't eat a snack before bed and eat dinner kind of early chances are your sugar drops over night and if you are up for a while before you eat then it just gets lower and lower.
If I don't eat a bedtime snack then I wake up between 12 and 1 everytime hot and sweaty, feeling like im going to passout laying in bed, then I get shaky, I check my sugar and its 57 or 60, which is so not good for the baby. Could kill him instantly, so I watch it now.
I would suggest eating smaller, closer meals and snacks after breakfast (protein), lunch (a small carb), and bedtime (small carb)

I'm not a diabetic

But I have read quite a bit of information on eating with Type II diabetes. Becuase I have a small medical condition that often leads to type II, I'm doing everything I can to avoid it!
There exists, a school of thought that believes you control Type II through the glycemic index. There are a million websites out there on this topic. I personally have found this to be my solution. Once I started paying attention to the glycemic index of food, and not dieting, I lost weight for the first time in my life. Amazing, since I wasn't trying at all!
When I met with a nutritionist she handed me a glycemic index chart and told to focus on whole grains and quantity
