Diabetic Diet Breakfast Recipes

One of the biggest mistakes women make at breakfast time? Not eating enough. In the morning, your energy stores are depleted by as much as 80% from the night before. Without food, your body begins to conserve energy and burn fewer calories—making your metabolism take a nosedive. That may be why, in one study, breakfast skippers were nearly 5 times more likely to be obese than breakfast eaters.

The following meals are packed with special fat-fighting nutrients—fiber, omega-3s, calcium, and vitamin D—a power combination that burns fat and keeps blood sugar (and energy) levels steady. (They’re also the basis of Prevention’s Outsmart Diabetes plan). So whether you have diabetes, prediabetes, or just want to eat better and have fewer cravings and binges, start your morning with one of these delicious, nutritious choices.

Lately, his blood pressure is running low. Generally it averages between 128/70 to 148/80. Now it is beginning to scare me a little because it is sometimes running like 99/55 heartrate will be between 75-85. The other day it was 79/54.
He just got approved for SSDI but he has to be on it for 2 years before he can get medicare

I do not yet take insulin and am on diet control for my diabetes. I watch what I eat but I am basically always hungry. I just do not eat every time I am hungry because I know part of this is my condition. Still, I would appreciate any suggestions,Thanks.

    • I hear ya! I'm cutting down on my caloric intake and for the first few weeks I felt like I was always hungry. But I found that I had to make my meals count. Like for breakfast I am sure to include a protein (scrambled eggs/soy bacon) and whole wheat toast. Eating that for breakfast, as opposed t … eye on the serving size and calorie amount. :)

Also, don't listen to the people who try to push the 'sugar free' option on you. Those snacks are generally just as high in carbohydrates (which is what we're really keeping an eye on!) and calories as their sugar-full counterparts!

My mom just discovered that she has diabetes and we are trying to find recipes that are appealing and are not too foreign. What is a typical meal plan for individuals who have diabetes?

    • The best Type 2 diabetic diet limits carbohydrates, especially from grains, rice, corn, potatoes, sugar, and even fruit. Carbohydrates do not have to be eliminated - impractical and unnecessary - but because carbohydrates are primarily what drive up blood sugar, they do have to be restricted. Ev … blood sugar testing. She should aim to stay under 140 mg/dL 1-2 hours after eating. Ideally, fastings would be below 100 mg/dL, but the AACE recommends anything under 110 mg/dL.

This is my absolute favorite low-carb recipe website: I hope your mother enjoys them as much as I do.
